Quick Garden Update -HOT! HOT! HOT!

The garden is loving the weather this week.  Our temps have been in the high 80's and low 90's all week and it is really working well for the garden.  Here's some shots from this week.

Wow - look at the pictures from a month ago and it is amazing to see the growth in the garden.  It's going full blast and I think we are well on our way to having a solid garden year.

The tomatoes are coming along nicely.  This is just one of the vines that is starting to produce.  We have Roma vines that are really starting to grow now (we started them from seeds) as well as a big "Pink Lady" tomato that is starting to bloom this week as things warm up.

Here's a shot of the rocket lettuce plots we started on Mother's day - it may be a little too late in the season but we will see - right now we are optimistic that they will produce before it gets really hot this summer.  Keep your fingers crossed!

Last shot of this update - we are also trying a container based Strawberry garden on the deck.

It has already produced two strawberries but still have a long way to go.  We will see how it works out as the summer heats up.

  1. Looks nice. We got our square foot garden put together. Now I need to plant the tomatoes and a few things today. It's finally warming up here, in Oregon, where we live. We've had a lot of cool, wet weather, then weekends it warms up then cold again. But it's improving so I think it's safe to plant. I've not gardened for awhile so this is a new thing for me. What state do you live in where it's so warm right now? Take care!

  2. We are lucky enough that we are finally having a warmer than average summer here in Arkansas. The last 2 summers have been mild at best - with only one week of real heat.

That has changed now - it is finally getting into and staying in the 90s for a couple of weeks now.
